Giovanni Viberti is a family-owned winery in the Barolo commune of Vergne, with origins dating back to the early 1900s. It began when Antonio Viberti purchased the local inn, "Al Buon Padre," along with the surrounding farm that produced the wines served in the trattoria. At the time, Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo were the primary varieties grown and vinified for restaurant guests. In 1967, Antonio’s son Giovanni took over the estate, working alongside his wife Maria, whose warm presence helped grow the reputation of both the winery and the restaurant. During the 1970s, the family expanded the vineyard holdings and built a modern cellar designed to highlight the character of Barolo’s native grapes. Today, Claudio Viberti represents the third generation to lead the winery. He is closely involved in every stage of the winemaking process, combining the knowledge passed down from his family with a modern sensibility. Giovanni Viberti wines are elegant, expressive and rooted in tradition, offering a true reflection of the Barolo landscape.
