La Villa is a small, family-run vineyard in Tasmania, born from a deep connection to Italy and a long-standing passion for food, wine and community. Marcus and Gail Burns were first inspired during a trip to Emilia-Romagna, where time spent making tortellini, salumi and wine with friends sparked the idea of creating something of their own. Returning to Tasmania, where Marcus’s family has grown apples and pears for three generations, they established La Villa on their home property. The name reflects their Italian inspiration, while the wines are unmistakably Tasmanian in character. The vineyard is hand tended with a focus on quality, and all grapes are hand pruned and hand picked. Winemakers Fran Austin and Shane Holloway craft the wines with a balance of elegance, structure and regional purity. La Villa is a celebration of place and influence. While the spirit of Italy remains close to heart, the wines are true expressions of Tasmania’s cool climate, made with care, intention and a sense of connection.
