Longhop

Multi-Regional, South Australia, Australia

Longhop Wines was founded in 2002 by Tim Freeland and Domenic Torzi, two friends who saw an opportunity to rescue some of the last remaining old vine vineyards in the Adelaide Plains. What began as a passion project has grown into a label known for producing bold, expressive wines with a strong sense of place. The focus from the beginning was securing old vine sites that had escaped the government vine pull schemes of the 1980s. Many of these small vineyards had survived urban development and shifting agricultural priorities. Weathered and low-yielding, they produce fruit with remarkable concentration and flavour. Longhop sources from select vineyards in the Adelaide Plains, Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills. Growers are part of the journey, working closely with the winemaking team to deliver fruit that reflects the power and character of these regions. In the winery, the approach is hands-on and unhurried. Fermentation is guided by feel and flavour, not formula. The result is a collection of generous, fruit-forward wines that are shaped by the vineyard and the vintage, not by numbers.
